epipen carriers - sassy options out there?

i must admit, i really need to be more diligent about how i carry around our epipens. i am usually really good about taking her messenger bag into the house each day after our forays out and about. but there have been times where i've forgotten it in the car. upon realization of this lame-brained-ness, i smack myself (think "i shoulda had a v8") and frantically look at the epi pens to make sure they haven't been compromised by the heat or the cold. and yes, because of my stupidity, I've replaced a few!

well, since it's 2008, i'm making a post new year's resolution to find a better way to keep these puppies safe and sound for bella.

so
after searching, googling, and surfing the peanutallergy.com site, this is what I came up with (along with my notes, albeit brief, on each one). Some are plain carriers, some are insulated, and some are geared towards packs to keep at school or daycare:
These are the ones I like the best:
http://www.kozyepi.com/epipen/plain/index.htm - super cute, especially the mocha one (check it out at left).

http://allergyhaven.com/ - love the fabrics (check out the photo below), and best of all it looks like they are offering a 15% discount right now. Score!

since i'm the one carrying it (oh and mark too I guess), I want something cute (of course) that I can find easily in my purse or the messenger bag. keep in mind that even though these are my preferred carriers - it's just a personal preference, not a
judgment of the others. these all look like they fit a need out there!

i'd love to hear from you all - have you used any of these? do you have a favorite? any other choices I didn't stumble across? spill, people!

Thanks for this great list! As my older son goes to Kindergarten this fall, I've been wondering how to keep him safe, and a fashionable carrier will probably help.

Hi. I'm new to your site. I also have a peanut (and tree nut) allergic kid -- two, in fact. We're going to start having our oldest (7 y.o.) start being responsible for making sure he has his epi when we leave the house so I'm looking for a carrier, too. Thanks for the links!

I've added you to my blogroll, if you don't mind.

We have the Pen Pal and Pen Pal2 from the Allergy Pack website. I like that it is durable and comes with a handy plastic hook. Also, my son (4yrs old) has asthma so I like the Chamber Pack options (though we haven't ordered one yet).

Boys here so we stick to basic black. We have two PenPals (https://www.foodallergy.org/shoppingcart/cgi-bin/msascartlist.dll/ProductInfo?productcd=EPENPAL2) - one for Epi Pens and one for Epi Pen Jrs. We can also fit a couple of Benadryl tablets in them. DH likes them because he clips them to his belt loop with the plastic clip. I attach them to my purse with the velcro loops.

We also have an ebelt but that is a new acquisition and my ds#1 is not all that comfortable carrying it yet. He does have a black fanny pack in his backpack with an epi pen and benadry sealed in the safetysack. It is a good heavy-duty bag. DS#3 is too young to carry his own.

I have the allergykids (bright green) ones. They are bulky, but you can find them anywhere. I love them for the classroom because you can see it a mile away and I love it for my purse and diaper bag because it's easy to find (If you have big purse, too big if you carry a small purse)when it falls to the bottom.

We use the PenPal from AllergyPack and have had great luck with it. I love how I can hook onto my purse or a belt loop.

Oh my gosh...after spending days looking and reviewing epibelts, packs, carriers and what not - I stumbled along your blog with my same perceptions! doh! =) So glad to see it summarized here! That being said, I purchased the SafetySacks and it is perfect for keeping in the cabinet at home, with the sitter/classroom, etc. We also got one of the Allergy Kids packets that includes a pack, lunch bag, stickers, pins with the allergy symbol on them in BRIGHT green, my son loves it - haha. http://www.allergykids.com/ Now I just need to finalize on a belt for him to wear. Did you decide on one?

Thanks for sharing your list!

Nice to find your blog, too. I'll be back to visit again.

Hi! This is a great resource for people living with severe allergies. Just wanted to share some information about the company my partner and I started --www.takeincase.com -- to help ensure that people who need EpiPens always have them on hand. It is sporty, lightweight and comfortable and we hope that it helps allergy sufferers have an option when it may otherwise be inconvenient or uncomfortable to have this life-saving medication with them!! Hope you try out our product and that it helps you or someone you love have peace of mind!!

HI! I love the products that Peace of Mind Allergy Solutions makes. Their products are so stylish and trendy! Everyone should check them out!

Thanks, for the kind words about Peace of Mind Allergy Solutions. As, the owner I truely appreciate it. And of course I agree that our products are very trendy and stylish. It is our goal to ensure that children these days can be proud of who they are, and not just recognized as the kid with the allergies. Most importantly we understand the importance of always having our EpiPens on hand ( and inhalers and benadryl!), which is why we do what we do! We are also very active with FAAN, and donate $1 of every sale to FAAN as well. I know that one day our children will be healed!

Thanks for this list! I just ordered 2 Allergy Kids packs -- I have been meaning to get organized. I like the bright green -- no mistaking what it is.

This list is fantastic! We used www.allergywise.ca and ordered a carrier for our son who is in JK. The teacher loves the fact that there is the logo which makes it easy to identify that it's an epipen. I use it on my purse, on my son's knapsack as well. Thanks for such a great list and for such a great site

There is a new EpiPen holder on the market called Epissentials - a EpiPen holder that is worn on your leg. You can find it at: allergyessentialsusa.com. This holder is comfortable, stylish and most importantly always on you. There are six designs to choose from. The holder can be worn under pants, jeans, etc or worn proudly with shorts or a skirt. Also, there are two sizes which will fit a wide range a people. It's great!!

This list is great. I also wanted to let you know about another product I bought last week that is not in your list. It is called LegBuddy and I found at www.omaxcare.com. My son loves it because he wears it on his leg and the best part is that his friends thinks it looks cool. Is made out of a soft material and it has been the best product for him so far.

The Legbuddy from omaxcare.com fits better than any others. We tried the one by allergy essentials and eventhough it has nice designs on it the straps are too thin so it tends to slide down

Thanks for doing all of this research! Its awesome to find some "boy" options that don't look like "man purses". nicely done!

Have you seen the E-Belt?
www.zoniinc.com

Just got a new epipen belt that is better than anyone I have owned. Has no plastic buckles like the Ebelt and the material is soft neoprene all around and the new Epipen injectors (larger than the original) fit perfectly. I got mine from www.concealedepipen.com

Allergy Essentials USA has the best EpiPen holder! It fits on your leg - the ankle area. You can buy this at: allergyessentialsusa.com. The straps are great - you can tighten or loosen the straps to make it fit perfectly and they do not fall down. Great product!

Hey! I'm new to your blog. Thanks for all of the links above. My eight year old son is going to need to keep his epi on him this summer at the camp he will be attending. I'm now scouting for holders that are "cool" as well as functional and not too cumbersome. Thanks!

Hi - I have always used the bright green carrying case for the epi-pen from allergykids.com However, I don't see it on their site do you know if they are still available?

Thank you!

Thanks for some of this info!! Just thought I'd let you know that a lot of the links came up as 'not found' or 'link broken'. I am not sure if it's because the post is from 2008 now, but just wanted to make you aware. You have such good resources and you have helped me immensely with products and info for my 1yr old. Thx
