I read a disturbing article in the New York Times this week. Hunger is at a 14 year high. It's staggering. And the thought of kids going hungry makes my heart hurt as a mom (and a human).
We're so lucky - we don't worry where our next meal is coming from. So many don't have that luxury, so we make it a priority to help. I've already dropped off a very large box of groceries in the bin at my office and we budget money to donate over the course of the year to the food bank that is in our small town.
It's not too late to help your local food bank by donating food or your time. It doesn't take a Ph.D. to assume that food banks will be hit hard this year due to our crap economy.
Oh, and since we're a peanut allergy family (and well aware of other food allergies), we donated a variety of allergy friendly foods (including gluten free items and a few jars of sunbutter). Allergies know no boundaries, right?
How else can we help??

Donating allergy-friendly foods is a great idea! I bet not many people think of that.
